A:It is a quick and easy way to earn new revenue and boost renewal rates.

Q:How does OpenSRS benefit?![]()
A:Like you, we will earn revenue from the pay-per-click advertising that appears on the parked page. Also, the overall renewal rate for wanted domains will increase since registrants will be able to directly contact their service provider from the parked page. This will lead to a better overall customer experience and fewer expiring domains.

Q:Why does OpenSRS move some expired domain names into its own portfolio?![]()
A:Parked pages are a popular and standard practice in the domain industry. After a domain name expires, OpenSRS evaluates and moves some domains into its portfolio in order to monetize their value.

Q:How does the OpenSRS Domain Parking service work?![]()
A:Any .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .name, .cc, ca, .be, .eu, .us, .uk, .tv, or .mobi domain three days past its expiry date will display a landing page. This page can include the service provider's logo, renewal message and link to their website (which you can customize), as well as pay-per-click advertisements. Whenever an Internet user clicks an ad, the service provider earns money. OpenSRS will deposit your monthly revenue into your reseller account. The service provider can also choose to include unused domains pre-expiry in the Parked Pages program. Full details on how the expiry process works along with an explanation of registrants' rights are contained in the reseller documentation. Service providers and registrants will receive all notifications sent as a part of the renewal reminder process until the name expires.

Q:What costs are involved?![]()
A:There are no set-up costs or monthly fees to participate in the OpenSRS Parked Pages service.
![]() | |
Q:How much can I earn?![]()
A:Your results will depend on the names in your portfolio. Older, generic names with established legacy traffic or higher type-in value will usually earn more revenue than other names.
![]() | |
Q:Why do you say this will increase renewal rates?![]()
A:One of the most frequent questions we receive from end users is, "My name expired! How do I renew it?" The parked page landing page includes an optional reseller header that is customized by you and can display your logo, renewal message and link to your website. Your company gains valuable profile, and your existing registrants will be able to contact you directly to renew their domain. This will result in better overall customer satisfaction and less churn.

Q:How do I get paid?![]()
A:Your share of the pay-per-click advertising revenue will be deposited monthly into your reseller account. A summary report of the revenue earned will be available to you via Tucows Insight, an online reporting tool designed to help you make important business decisions.

Q:Can the Registrant renew an expired domain that is parked?![]()
A:Yes. Registrant rights are protected. Registrants can renew their domain during the grace period (first 40 days post expiry). An administrative rescue fee applies between days 41-70 post-expiry. After 70 days, Registrants continue to be able to reinstate the domain in certain circumstances. Full details are found within the reseller documentation.

Q:Where can I view reports? When are these reports updated?![]()
A:Reports are available using Tucows Insight. Parked Pages Program reports are updated on a daily basis. Expired Domains Program reports are updated on a monthly basis. You can access Tucows Insight within the RWI.

Q:What do service providers have to do to implement Expired Domains?![]()
A:All domains that expire will display ads beginning three days after their expiry date. To modify the ad page's header and renewal message, simply provide us with your logo and renewal message using the Reseller Web Interface (RWI). This feature is available under "Expired Domains Settings" in the RWI. Your expired names will display your logo and customized message once you provide this information.
![]() | |
Q:Can I implement my own ads/pages?![]()
A:No. While you can customize your own logo and renewal messaging, the frame on the page that contains ads may not be modified. You also cannot add any advertisements to the header on the parked page.
![]() | |
Q:Who hosts this service?![]()
A:Your logo and renewal messaging are hosted by you. The rest of the hosting is provided by Tucows.
![]() | |
Q:How do I opt out?![]()
A:You may opt out of the Parked Pages Program within the RWI. If you wish to opt out of the Expired Domains Program, contact your Account Representative.
![]() | |
Q:How much will I get paid?![]()
A:Exactly how much you'll earn with our Parked Pages and Expired Domains programs depends on the number of domains included in the program, the "quality" of the domains, the traffic the domains receive, and ultimately the number of clicks on the ads. Because we're in a mutual 50/50 revenue share, our team works hard to optimize the revenues for everyone.
