Q:Does the registry impose any other restrictions?![]()
A:Yes. Because the registry is devoted to sites for mobile devices, there are some style rules that must be followed in order to optimize sites for these devices. 1. Must use XHTML Mobile Profile 1.0 as the default for the landing page 2. No frames 3. Site must be present on second level The registry also provides Best Practices for mobile web sites. These are not mandatory. Please review the documents provided by the registry on the following page for information regarding this. These include mandatory requirements as well as other advice on creating sites for these devices http://pc.mtld.mobi/mobilenet/dotmobi_guides.html

Q:Who validates claims?![]()
A:The registry will accept applications on a first come-first served basis. They will then perform the validation.
![]() | |
Q:How can a registrant track their application?![]()
A:The registry accepts the first application for a domain name; therefore a successful application will be evident immediately. If an application is submitted for a domain that has already been applied for, subsequent requests will be returned as “domain taken” immediately. The accepted application may be revoked if the trademark information is not valid.

Q:What if I have a prior right in a non-ASCII language?![]()
A:The registry is not supporting IDNs at this time.
![]() | |
Q:Can I create nameservers based on the .MOBI domain name I am applying for?![]()
A:Nameservers will be asked for in the application form. They may or may not be provided at this time. However, .mobi domains that are successfully registered will be locked and can only resolve if the nameservers provided are valid. These nameservers cannot be updated either until the registry unlocks these names.

Q:What will the registry do if I do not comply with the mandatory requirements?![]()
A:The registry will actively verify compliance and reserves the right to suspend names that violate the rules. Domains will be tested via ‘crawlers’, no less than once every 90 days. Note that it is NOT required to have a web site in place, but if there is one, then it must comply. If a site is found to be in violation, the registrant will have 60 days to comply before the registry will suspend the name.
